Questions about short links and QR codes
Clear answers about how the current GoQuikly URL shortener works, what it records, and what you should know before sharing a link.
What is a URL shortener?
A URL shortener stores a long destination behind a shorter web address. Opening the short address makes the server look up the destination and return an HTTP redirect.
Is GoQuikly free to use?
The current link-creation tool is free and does not require registration. Plan limits and paid subscriptions have not been introduced in this release.
Do GoQuikly links show an advertisement first?
No. A valid GoQuikly short link returns a direct HTTP 302 redirect to its saved destination. There is no advertising interstitial or countdown page.
Does GoQuikly count link clicks?
Yes. The total click counter increments when the redirect occurs. The result card lets you request the current count for a link you have just created.
How do I generate a QR code?
Create a short link from the homepage. Its result card displays a QR code and a link to download the code as an SVG file.
What does the QR code contain?
It contains the public GoQuikly short URL. Scanning the QR therefore uses the same redirect and click-counting flow as opening the short link.
Can I edit a destination after creating a link?
Not in the current release. Editable destinations are part of the product direction, but the capability will not be advertised as available until it is implemented.
Can I choose a custom short code?
Not currently. GoQuikly generates a unique five-character code automatically.
What happens if a short code does not exist?
The server returns a branded page with a real HTTP 404 status. It does not create an indexable page for the missing code.
How can I report a suspicious link?
Use the report abuse page. The permanent reporting channel still needs to be configured before a broad public launch.
Ready to create a shorter link?
Use the free tool on the GoQuikly homepage.
